What is a Bagatelle?
John came to us with a really rare snooker style game called Bagatelle. The rules and the skills are so tight that I can completely understand why Billiards & Pool took over as the game of choice in pubs back in the early 1900’s. After a couple of beers, I’d say no one could finish a game whereas with Snooker & the like, there’s always a chance of a fluke rebound shot or two.
Bagatelle (from the Château de Bagatelle) is a billiards-derived indoor table game, the object of which is to get a number of balls (set at nine in the 19th century) past wooden pins (which act as obstacles) into holes that are guarded by wooden pegs; penalties are incurred if the pegs are knocked over.
We’ll be repolishing the beautiful timber casket and relaying the felt on the base and all the small sections. Watch this space!!
